Senior Data Engineer

Candidates must reside in or near Scottsdale or Phoenix area and will have the flexibility to work remotely from there.Job SummaryAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will contribute directly to application and business teams as a member of a cross-functional development team as well as integrated into the data team center of excellence.You will work alongside your development and data team members to support development, data inquiries, troubleshooting, release, and data analysis.You will be responsible for producing stable, scalable, high quality database features that support the application code for the team’s applications and services as well as collaborate with and mentor team members on best practices and data standards.Help provide direction and support of new database technologies and methodologies to ensure project success.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist development teams in the build out of stable, reliable and effective schema and database technologies. Including transactional and analytical database efforts as required by the businessReview and optimize application data access strategiesEnforce database quality standards within the code baseSupport and build out development, QA, training and production environmentsBuild and maintain reporting and analytical pipelines using on premise and cloud toolsMentor developers and product owners on database patternsPrepare and review scripts for deployment and automationCreate, implement and maintain policies and procedures regarding data security/access, retention/destruction, HA/DR and governanceMonitor hardware, software, storage and performance of database serversTune and configure database servers for best sustainable performanceSupport architecture team in long-term planning and implementationSupport after-hours and on-call duties as requiredSupport operations and support teams and assist with troubleshooting activities as neededContinue to develop your skills in database optimization, data integrity, and other DBA duties, including task estimation and data modeling as a member of an agile software teamRequired ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required5+ years of experience in database developmentStrong working knowledge of the Microsoft data platform, including SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, Data Factory, Azure SQL and Power BI Knowledge of data management standards, practices and proceduresExperience with data modeling, performance tuning, and product release / deliveryStrong knowledge of T-SQL programming language and platform toolsProficient with database design fundamentals related to Commerce, CRM, and Inventory SystemsExperience with non-relational and non-Microsoft database systemsKnowledge of C# and .Net programmingKnowledge of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and business analytics methodologies and toolsAutomation of testing and deployment using industry tools and languagesYou can visualize the big picture, analyze key issues and recommend pragmatic, effective solutions with an eye on the enterpriseYou work well in an agile team environment where processes and schedules can change quicklyYou are hands on and able to iterate on ideas and collaborate with team members to solve problems and develop solutionsYou are an excellent communicator and have the ability to engage peers to get the information you need and escalate effectivelyPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
