Technical Development Engineer II
General Job Description:The Technical Development Engineer (TDE) is a member of the Commercial team and reports directly to the Sales Manager – Molded Product. The TDE’s primary role is support of the commercial and quality organizations by providing on-site customer support, diagnostics, and processing solutions.Core Duties/Responsibilities:Primary tasks include, but are not limited to:Work with cross-functional teams (internal & at customer) to troubleshoot customer process issues and lead issue resolution efforts at the customer location in accordance with Hanwha Azdel’s recommended processing guidelinesIdentify and report on competing product activities at customersDuplicate customer processes at Hanwha Azdel’s laboratories in order to facilitate validation of new product developments, launch support, and quality issuesLead productivity improvement projects and other technical development efforts at strategic customer sitesUse of DMAIC and DFSS analytical tools and problem solving skills such as GR&R, DOE and mistake proofing to resolve technical processing issuesDevelop and maintain Hanwha Azdel troubleshooting guidelines and lessons learned databaseAct as technical focal point at customer and Tier 1 representing product and companyAddress customer problems that are related to materialsCoordinates technical support from cross-functional team for analyzing samples & technical meetings as required for successful commercialization or quality resolution.Communicates customer feedback on products (including quality issues) to cross-functional team including engineering, Q.C., Account Managers, etc.Works with the Quality organization to identify and resolve quality issuesWrites Technical Reports and Visit reportsTravel Required: 60-70% (approximately) Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; Other disciplines may be considered depending upon experience3+ years’ work experience in a similar role (application, processing, quality, or manufacturing engineering)Strong communication and interpersonal skills, open to listening and sharing experiences Strong comprehension and utilization of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & OutlookStrong interpersonal and team skillsA demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions; Problem solving / analytical skills requiredCandidate must be a highly motivated, self-starter with effective communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to analyze problems quickly and summarize effectivelySkills, Abilities & Attitudes:Collaborative demeanorCommunicativeCustomer focusDrives resultsInstills trust and exemplifies integrityPreferred Qualifications:OEM or Tier 1 experienceBachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology field Experience with ISO quality systems, practices and proceduresExperience in using data acquisition systems, data analysis, and reporting tools3+ years’ experience in thermoforming / compression molding.Six-Sigma certification
