This internship opportunity will provide hands‑on experience and the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals in the industry. If you are looking to kickstart your career and develop your skills, we encourage you to apply for this Intern position. Roles and Responsibilities Work in a collaborative team environment. May learn to produce detailed layout and equipment details of division systems. May assist in the review of submittals, specifications, and drawings. Assist various departments and team members with assigned day‑to‑day tasks and special projects within specified deadlines, contributing to the overall success of the organization. Attend meetings and take notes as needed. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve processes. Communicate effectively and professionally with the preconstruction, engineers, project managers, superintendents, foremen, technicians, etc. to ensure successful task & project completions. May assist your team in finding the most cost‑effective way to perform specific scopes of work. May learn to install, control, and work with various low‑voltage or shop systems. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures. May go off‑site to visit various projects or shops. Gain experience within a fast‑paced and growing industry. Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company from time to time. Internship Locations Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston Salem, Greenville, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Columbia Internship Departments Mechanical, Pipe Shop, Carolina Spiral, Fire, Security, HVAC, Controls/Electrical, National, Sales, Admin, Design and Development. Qualifications and Education Requirements Must be in an educational program related to an MSS division: Construction, Engineering, Design & Development, HVAC, Fire, Security, Controls, etc. Should be able to work effectively, both individually and as part of a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Able to lead small projects with limited scope. Strong desire to learn and develop new skills. Ability to interact with MSS personnel at all levels, both formally and informally. Sound problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and computer skills. Knowledge and general understanding of Autodesk Products a plus. Completing random drug testing is required. Must successfully pass a background check & pre‑employment drug test. May require a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Physical Demands: Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, constant standing, walking, reaching, gripping; vision requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; must be able to talk and hear; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs (maximum solo lift) and constant lifting to 25 lbs, placing this position in the very heavy physical demand classification (PDC). Work Environment Work is performed in an open office and/or private office environment with air conditioning and bright lights. There may also be exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity level, atmospheric conditions, exposure to electrical shock, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposure places.
