Job SummaryThe Senior Project Manager- New Power Generation Construction is responsible for the safe, compliant, and successful execution of a major workstream within a single mega project or full life‑cycle ownership of a portfolio of multiple, complex capital projects. This role provides senior leadership across all phases of project delivery—initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout—by applying advanced project management practices to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.The Senior Project Manager is accountable for strategic planning, governance, risk management, budgeting, forecasting, and performance optimization, while leading cross‑functional teams and external partners. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment and serves as a primary point of accountability for project outcomes. This role relies on highly developed leadership, communication, and technical expertise, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate across engineering, project controls, supply chain, environmental, regulatory, strategy, accounting, operations, external engineering firms, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.The Senior Project Manager will operate as a proactive, solutions‑oriented leader within an organization primarily focused on execution of new generation projects, as well as other large, complex infrastructure initiatives (e.g., synchronous condensers and similar assets).Essential FunctionsProvides end‑to‑end leadership for complex capital projects or major project segments, from conceptual development through commissioning and turnoverEstablishes and governs scope, schedule, cost baselines, risk registers, and change management processes, ensuring disciplined performance tracking and corrective actionsAccountable for project performance outcomes, including safety, quality, cost, schedule, and regulatory complianceLeads and mentors project managers, project specialists, and construction inspection resources; sets expectations and promotes consistent best practicesEnsures safe, efficient, and high‑quality construction execution in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirementsPartners with project controls to develop and maintain accurate budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and capital spend reportingProactively manages project risks, issues, and dependencies across engineering, procurement, construction, and land servicesServes as a senior liaison with external municipalities, local authorities, landowners, and regulatory bodiesOversees contractor performance, commercial administration, and contract complianceEnsures timely, accurate invoice review and approval, aligned with contract terms and budget controlsProvides executive‑level project status reporting, including progress, risks, mitigation strategies, and financial performanceMeasures and drives project success defined by:Zero serious safety incidentsCompletion within ±5% of approved cost estimatesOn‑time delivery of key milestonesNo significant regulatory notices, violations, or citationsSupports continuous improvement efforts by identifying lessons learned and implementing process enhancements across the project portfolioRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field or equivalent experience (minimum 9 years total experience)7–10+ years of progressive experience managing construction‑related capital projects, including large, complex, or regulated infrastructure projects5+ years of experience leading and managing pipeline construction contractors and field execution teams5+ years of experience with project budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and capital governanceDemonstrated knowledge and experience on managing capital projects/programs related to power generation and/or electric transmissionStrong working knowledge of local, state, and federal operating and construction codesAdvanced proficiency with project management and scheduling tools, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and construction management softwareWorking knowledge of operations support systems (e.g., WMS or similar tools)Valid in‑state driver’s license upon hirePreferred QualificationsProject Management Professional (PMP) certification (PMI)Experience leading portions of or entire mega‑projects or managing multi‑project portfoliosDemonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and executive leadershipPhysical DemandsThe preceding description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.
