Site Safety & Health Officer

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety compliance on a federal construction project. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture on-site.Key Responsibilities• Enforce compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards• Develop and maintain Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA)• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments• Lead safety training programs including orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing education• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; provide reporting and recommendations• Coordinate with subcontractors and external agencies to ensure full safety compliance• Manage on-site emergency response coordination• Maintain daily safety reports, documentation, and photo logs• Utilize Procore and other systems for reporting and compliance tracking• Partner with project leadership to improve and implement safety policiesRequired Qualifications• 5+ years of SSHO experience on federal construction projects• Experience working with agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, VA, National Parks, or BLM• Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA regulations• Proven experience delivering safety training programs• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Procore• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required)• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehiclePreferred Qualifications• Degree or certification in safety, construction management, or related field• EM 385-1-1 certification• Experience with USACE RMS or NAVFAC eCMS• Additional federal construction safety certificationsEqual Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected VeteransThe Know Your Rights poster is available here:https://www.eeoc.gov/sites/default/files/2023-06/22-088_EEOC_KnowYourRights6.12.pdfThe pay transparency policy is available here:https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/ofccp/pdf/pay-transp_%20English_formattedESQA508c.pdfFor temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer, AppleOne is pleased to offer major medical, dental, vision, 401k and any statutory sick pay where required.We are committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.
