Teacher PositionJob DescriptionTo help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and womenPerformance ResponsibilitiesMeets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designatedPlans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of the studentsCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the studentsPrepares for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparationEncourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to studentsEmploys a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedStrives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectivesAssesses accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as requiredDiagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as requiredTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesMaintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulationsAssists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just mannerMakes provisions to be available to students/parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable termsPlans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteersStrives to maintain and improve professional competenceAttends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as requiredProvides written lesson plans, which are accessible for use by a substitute teacherPerforms such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by higher authorityTerms Of EmploymentTerms of employment shall be consistent with the law relating to employment by a school system in the State of Alabama. Nine-month year, with a salary scale established by the Board for this position.SalarySalary in accordance with Board approved State Salary Schedule.EvaluationThe performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
