Forklift Operator

Summary: Job Title: Forklift Operator Department: Shipping & Receiving Reports to: Shipping & Receiving Manager Location: Detroit Lakes, MN Summary Working with a team or individually, the Forklift Operator is responsible for receiving, storing, and shipping a variety of supplies and materials used in modular construction. Inspect incoming shipment of quantity and quality, sort, and separate material for appropriate storage location Operate a stand-up or sit-down forklift to load, unload, stack, and rotate stock in warehouse Maintain accurate records, ensure all documents are complete and any concerns are reported Responsible for meeting productivity requirements Maintains inventory, tools and supplies Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area Works in a safe manner and follows all safety policies including wearing appropriate PPE Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment. The performance of this position requires occasional exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of safety glasses is required, and the use of hearing protection may be required. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects up to 80 pounds, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor in a climate-controlled environment. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is primarily not expected in this role, although some out-of-area travel may be expected. Experience 1-2 Years of warehouse experience Forklift certification is a plus Ability to read and understand shipping documents to verify incoming and outgoing shipments Ability to operate material identification equipment such barcode readers and computer terminals Strict attention to detail and order accuracy Ability to perform physical work overhead for extended periods of time Ability to use mathematics and measuring devices to calculate length, width, height, depth, etc. Ability to follow written and spoken instruction Ability to lift to 80 pounds comfortably and consistently Education High school diploma or Equivalent required.
