Manufacturing Engineer
Industry: Automotive / Truck / Off-Highway ManufacturingPosition OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Tech Lead – Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering to lead a team of onsite Industrial Engineers supporting 4–5 manufacturing facilities in the Appleton, WI area.The role will focus on Industrial Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Time Studies, Work Measurement, Line Balancing, Yamazumi, Productivity Improvement, and Continuous Improvement within high-volume and high-mix manufacturing environments.The Tech Lead will also work closely with customer leadership, onsite teams, offshore teams, operations, engineering, and other stakeholders to drive successful project delivery and measurable manufacturing improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage onsite Industrial Engineering teams supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.Perform time studies, video-based time studies, work measurement, and work breakdown analysis.Perform line balancing using Yamazumi charts.Conduct multi-model line balancing and level-loading activities.Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for productivity and cycle-time improvement.Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.Apply Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and TQM principles.Identify opportunities for labor optimization, cost reduction, process improvement, and waste elimination.Support assembly-line consolidation and high-flow line implementation.Identify opportunities for automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing.Improve material flow and manufacturing processes.Develop SOPs, work instructions, and standardized operating methods.Establish and track KPIs related to productivity, quality, cost, and cycle time.Analyze manufacturing data and prepare dashboards/reports for decision-making.Manage project governance, resource planning, risks, issues, schedules, and deliverables.Coordinate effectively between customer, onsite, offshore, and cross-functional teams.Provide stakeholder and executive-level communication and reporting.Support customer escalations, risk management, and change management.Collaborate with customer leadership, operations, engineering, and sales teams to identify additional improvement opportunities.Required Skills & Experience7+ years of Industrial Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering experience.Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.Strong hands-on experience with:Time StudiesWork MeasurementVideo-Based Time StudiesLine BalancingYamazumi ChartsMulti-Model Line BalancingLevel LoadingCycle Time AnalysisProductivity ImprovementStrong knowledge of:Lean ManufacturingKaizen5SKanbanPoka-YokeTotal Quality Management (TQM)Continuous ImprovementExperience in high-volume and high-mix manufacturing environments.Experience with multi-model production and manufacturing transformation.Experience with labor optimization, material flow, and process optimization.Exposure to automation and robotics is preferred.Strong team leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.Experience working with onsite/offshore or global teams.Strong project governance, risk management, and KPI management experience.Preferred Industry ExperienceExperience in one or more of the following industries is highly preferred:AutomotiveTruck ManufacturingOff-HighwayHeavy EquipmentSpecialty VehiclesComplex Assembly Manufacturing
