Sr. Technical Program Manager, Packaging PMO
What to Expect
Tesla’s North America Packaging Engineering organization designs and delivers packaging that protects parts and enables efficient material flow across factories, distribution centers, and service locations.
We are hiring a Technical Project Manager to lead the Packaging Engineering Project Management Office (PMO). You will build the operating system behind the engineering work: portfolio visibility, standards, tools, budget cadence, talent operations, and performance frameworks that help packaging engineers and TPMs move faster with clear priorities.
This is an org-enablement role. You will partner with packaging engineers, project managers, supplier industrialization engineers, finance, operations, and factory stakeholders to drive consistency, accountability, and scale.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, turns multi-site complexity into simple repeatable systems, and is equally effective in leadership reviews, project trackers, budget forecasts, and hands-on process workshops.
What You'll Do
Build and continuously improve PMO frameworks for North America Packaging Engineering, including templates, ownership models, escalation paths, and lightweight best practices designed for speed across multi-site operations
Own organization-level portfolio visibility: prioritization support, capacity and bandwidth planning, risk tracking, stage-gate rhythm, and leadership-ready dashboards and KPIs
Run PMO and organization budget rhythms, including forecasting, tracking, CapEx and business-case support, ROI and savings rollups, and clear financial reporting to leadership
Lead evaluation, adoption, training, and lifecycle management of AI and productivity tools to reduce cycle time on trackers, business cases, reporting, and repetitive operational work
Partner with leadership and HR on workforce planning, including hiring pipeline support, role scoping, onboarding, training programs, attrition analysis, and succession readiness
Identify systemic gaps across handoffs, compliance, supplier and portal workflows, distribution center and factory interfaces, and documentation, then lead continuous improvement programs that unlock engineering bandwidth
What You'll Bring
Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
5+ years in technical program management, PMO leadership, or operations excellence in manufacturing, automotive, supply chain, or other high-volume environments
Proven experience standing up or scaling PMO operating systems, including portfolio governance, capacity planning, budgeting, KPIs, and executive reporting
Experience partnering with HR and managers on workforce programs such as hiring, onboarding, training, and IC performance frameworks
Hands-on with modern project, collaboration, and analytics tools, plus a track record of rolling out AI or productivity tools
Working knowledge of CapEx, business cases, and cross-functional financial or stage reviews
Packaging, automotive, energy, manufacturing, or distribution experience. PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma, are pluses
