The Technical Review Team is responsible for the review of construction documents at various project phases. Track compliance with regulatory government entities. Responsibilities As a technical expert, independently evaluate plans and specifications for projects prepared by other architects, engineers, and design professionals. Perform examinations in collaboration with other disciplines to meet the review schedule. Ensure projects meet UT adopted codes, standards, programmatic needs, sustainability goals, and minimize inflationary construction costs. Resolve highly complex and technical issues related to design and construction independently. Apply knowledge of building codes and UT Standards during construction. Provide input and update discipline-specific requirements in the UT Austin Standards. Assist Facilities Maintenance and other university personnel throughout all project phases. Maintain required record‑keeping systems. Perform value‑management engineering studies for schematic, preliminary, and cost‑management stages. Maintain required discipline license and continue education requirements. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Professional Engineer license (PE) in Texas or reciprocity with Texas. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering with focus on Electrical Engineering. Ten or more years of design and construction experience with emphasis on code enforcement, design documents, specifications, and construction practices. Knowledge of specialized standards in the area of expertise. Ability to apply thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to difficult and unique assignments. Ability to develop and review requests for code or design exceptions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment. Strong communication and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access). Preferred Qualifications Five or more years of design and on-site experience with medical and healthcare facilities. Master's Degree or advanced degree in Engineering with focus on Electrical Engineering. Experience evaluating complex designs and making professional judgments about alternative technical practices. On-site experience at major construction sites with familiarity of building systems including foundations, structures, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Retirement Plan Eligibility The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). This position must be at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length to qualify for TRS. The optional retirement program (ORP) is available for positions at 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
