Position:Occupational Therapist 26/27 SYType:PublicLocation:SuburbanJob ID:132899County:East MaricopaPosted:March 04, 2026Contact Information:Higley Unified School District2935 S Recker RoadGIlbert, AZ 85295District WebsiteContact:Human ResourcesPhone: 480-279-7100Fax:District EmailJob Description:Support HUSD Vision, Mission and GoalsMaintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentialityEvaluates student's abilities and formulates the student's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, histories, and interviews.Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.Collaborates with other team members to ensure understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs.Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education and intervention plans to achieve Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.Monitors and reassesses the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and district policy.Provides legal and ethical supervision of the occupational therapy assistant(s) assuming responsibility for the students served by the assistant.Perform additional duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSGraduation from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and completion of all fieldwork requirements.Certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy and current license issued by the State Board of Occupational Therapy.3-5 years of experience as an occupational therapist, in a school system or other pediatric practice setting is preferred.Outstanding oral and written communication skills.Ability to participate collaboratively with multi-disciplinary educational teams to develop IEPs to meet student needs.Ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans based on evaluation information.Knowledge of disabling conditions that occur before/after birth and their effects on students with special needsKnowledge of the educational system and its critical components including State and Federal regulations and ethical/legal responsibilities applicable to occupational therapy in a school setting.Ability to gather and assess outcomes program evaluation data and use data to modify services at the programmatic level.Ability to provide evidence based occupational therapy intervention to improve students' performance skills and participation.Ability to adapt and modify environments, equipment, and materials including assistive technology.Demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs including all Microsoft applications.Demonstrated strong knowledge/background in Sensory Integration.Valid IVP Fingerprint Card.No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
