and international peaceAbout the RoleThe Company is seeking a Vice President for U.S.-China Relations to lead its strategic portfolio in this critical area. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and implementing initiatives that promote constructive engagement, reduce systemic risks, and advance cooperation across various domains, including technology governance, biosafety, and counter-narcotics. This role requires a leader with at least 10 years' experience in U.S.-China relations, diplomacy, or international policy/governance, and a proven track record of building trusted partnerships across government, academia, and philanthropy. The VP will also be expected to represent the organization in international dialogues, guide senior fellows and grantees, and serve as a trusted advisor on geopolitical and governance risks.Applicants for the Vice President position at the company should have a Master's degree (PhD preferred) and a deep understanding of U.S. and Chinese policy systems, particularly in the fields of global health, technology, or counter-narcotics. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred, with deep cultural fluency being essential. The role demands an effective communicator with the ability to represent complex issues with clarity and diplomacy, and a collaborative leadership style that fosters trust and shared purpose. The VP will be expected to oversee budgets, grants, and performance metrics, and to travel internationally for partner engagement. The ideal candidate will have a background that combines geopolitical insight, credibility in both U.S. and Chinese contexts, and a commitment to the values of the organization, which include a focus on human security and sustainable peace.Travel Percent
