Clean and disinfect resident rooms, living areas, and other buildings on campus. Properly dispose of contaminated medical supplies and disinfect patient isolation rooms. Strip and wax floors use commercial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners. Complete maintenance requests, as assigned. Ensure building entrances, sidewalks, parking lots, and street entrances are clean and clear of debris by utilizing snow blowers, brooms, etc. Monitor slick and hazardous areas on campus during inclement weather. Assist with landscape maintenance. Move furniture and set up for functions and events. Perform minor repairs to buildings and equipment. Pressure wash building exteriors. Wash windows and clean rain gutters. Clean and maintain all janitorial and landscaping equipment and maintenance tools. Report unsafe conditions and other concerns to the supervisor. Complete record keeping and work orders for any required repairs. Maintain working knowledge of fire safety, evacuation plans, procedures, and fire extinguisher locations. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and more technical cleaning and maintenance methods. Knowledge of cleaning methods and practices. Knowledge of cleansers, supplies, and equipment and the ability to use chemicals and equipment in a safe manner. Ability to work and clean around sensitive equipment such as computers and medical equipment. Knowledge of basic math and the ability to properly mix chemicals. Knowledge of state and facility policies and procedures. Knowledge of universal precautions. Knowledge of emergency procedures, cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Knowledge of infection control standards. Ability to follow directions and work safely and efficiently. Knowledge of power and manual tools. Ability to work with and communicate with residents and staff in a positive manner. Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:High School DiplomaExperience:0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)OREducation & Experience Substitution:1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:None Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, chemicals, bio-hazards, potential explosives, and the elements. Ability to safely lift and move heavy and large items (requires twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling). Ability to climb ladders and work in a variety of locations and on a variety of surfaces.
