Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Flatwork Laborer. The right candidate will support the installation of residential concrete flatwork including driveways, sidewalks, patios, and related exterior surfaces within active homebuilding communities. This role performs manual labor tasks associated with site preparation, forming, pouring, finishing support, and cleanup while working under the direction of a Foreman or Crew Lead.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Assist with site preparation including grading, clearing debris, and preparing subgrade for concrete flatwork installationSupport form setting and layout activities by placing, aligning, and securing forms according to job specificationsPerform concrete placement support including spreading, leveling, and assisting finishers during pouring operationsHandle materials and tools such as rebar, mesh, forms, and finishing equipment required for flatwork installationAssist with concrete finishing tasks including edging, jointing, and surface preparation under supervisionMaintain job-site cleanliness and organization by removing debris, cleaning tools, and ensuring safe working conditionsFollow safety protocols and proper equipment usage, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to company safety standardsSupport crew productivity by completing assigned tasks efficiently to meet daily production goals and construction schedulesLoad, unload, and transport materials and equipment between job sites as neededAssist with basic maintenance and care of tools and equipment used in concrete operationsConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to work overtimeQualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred0–2 years of construction or general labor experienceAbility to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditionsAbility to follow established safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe and organized jobsiteAbility to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral visionRegular exposure to extreme weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
