Description:SUMMARYWorks service orders for water on/off, billing complaints, meter sets and change outs, service interruptions/complaints, meter reading and water quality complaints.Education/Equivalent:High School or 2 years experience in meter readingWork Experience Needed:• 2 years related experience and/or training.Special Skills/Abilities Needed:• Computer Skills MS Office Suite• Communications Skills• Leadership Skills• Organizational Skills• Project Management Skills• Interpersonal Skills• Valid Mississippi driver's license• Ability to knell, stoop, or bend for extended periods• Ability to lift/move up to 25 poundsNature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities• Know and abide by company's safety policies and procedures.• Prepare and accurately test water meters.• Keep accurate meter records.• Assist with office and grounds maintenance.• Navigate department programs on P.C.• Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.• When required, employee will work and assume the responsibilities of the Meter Reader.• Work service orders by turning water on or off, setting and/or removing customers' meters and recording pertinent data such as date, meter reading, meter data, etc.• Perform field investigations of billing complaints to confirm meter readings and checking for company or customer leaks.• Deliver notices of termination of services on delinquent accounts and attempt customer contact to collect bill.• Perform routine meter box maintenance, insuring lids are secure and there is reasonable access to the meter.• Replace damaged or missing meter box lids.• Keep daily records of time worked and materials used.• Deal with customers and the general public in a positive manner by answering general questions concerning water service, billing and meter reading.• Accurately track meter stock and perform monthly meter inventory count.This position description is intended for the purpose of position evaluation and salary positioning and is not a contract setting forth the full scope of employment.
