This is a rare opportunity to be part of a team that sets the day's news agenda for a passionate and growing audience.What We're Looking For: A strong, authoritative, and personable anchor who thrives in a fast-paced live environment.The ability to speak with confidence and clarity on breaking news, developing stories, and live interviews.Agile and adaptable, able to pivot seamlessly between serious breaking news and engaging morning-show elements.A strong writer and storyteller who collaborates with producers, reporters, and the digital team to create compelling content across all platforms.A team player who accentuates and enhances the strengths of our two primary morning anchors, bringing additional depth and energy to the newscast.Candidate must have a proven track record of strong storytelling skills, source-building, enterprise reporting, digging and handling breaking newsExcellent time management skills are a mustAbility to perform live shotsHas the ability to function as an MMJWork cooperatively with videographer if assignedKey Responsibilities: Engage with viewers in an authentic and relatable way, both on-air and across digital platforms.Provide live breaking news coverage, including severe weather and major events.Represent WINK News at community events and maintain a strong connection with the Southwest Florida audience.The MMJ will work with assignment editors, producers and news leadership to report on breaking news, enterprise stories and highly promotable news content specific to the region assignedReports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of eventsArranges interviews with people who can provide information about storiesReviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelinesResearches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate informationPitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local communityRevises work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirementsShoots and edits news events and news reportsEnsures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production qualityWrites stories for the web and other digital platformsInteracts with viewers/users on social media sitesPerforms special projects and other duties as assignedWillingness to work nonconventional hours including early mornings, evenings and weekendsAdditional Requirements: Must be able carry and setup ENG equipment often weighing 50lbsSuperior on-air presenceAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to shoot broadcast-quality video, edit and feed content back to the stationQualifications: Minimum 2 years of on-air reporting and/or anchoring experience in a newsroom preferred.Strong ad-libbing skills and the ability to deliver news with authority and warmth.Willingness to learn and effectively use interactive display technology during broadcasts.Physical Requirements Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods.Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via video.Operate standard office and recording equipment.Travel, including local driving to field locations or meetings.Navigate indoor and outdoor environments as needed for reporting.Able to lift up to 50 pounds.Visual and auditory ability to conduct interviews and review content.Benefits :Full-time new hires: Eligible to participate in all Company benefit plans, including: Health, Dental, Vision Insurance, and HSA 1 st of the month after 30 days of employmentSubject to plan termsEligibility for company-paid benefits such as life insurance & EAP and employee-paid benefits such as short-term disabilityPTO – Earned on Accrual BasisCompany-Paid Holidays401(k)*Please no phone calls or emails regarding this position.#LI-onsite Southwest Florida is often praised as being one of the healthiest and happiest places in the world with miles of white-sand beaches and a dynamic community.
