Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring Martinrea and Customer quality requirements are met while welding materials into parts.Required Education And ExperienceMust have a current AWS certificateSound understanding of Welding MetallurgyFundamental understanding of NDE techniquesSound understanding of Gas Metal Arc Welding, Projection and Resistance WeldingManual GMAW experienceWorking experience with industrial robotsMust have good interpersonal and communication skills.Good problem solving skillsMust be willing to work shifts and be flexible (including overtime on short notice)Ability to work well with fellow team members and promote "Team" conceptBasic knowledge of ISO/TS 16949:2002 an assetBasic knowledge and use of measuring equipmentBasic Computer skillsUnderstanding of Core Skills and basic GD&TBasic understanding of CMMEssential FunctionsPerform all duties and promote them in a manner that reflects the Martinrea Expectations, through Martinrea Employee Charter.Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.Support the WEC's on new and existing programsSupport Buy offs when requiredKeep the product cleaned up in quarantineEstablish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality AssuranceConducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reportsAssist with Robotic weld touchupsArchiving and maintaining Paxit systemBe dedicated to generating and or assisting in PPAP packages when requiredMaintain a sound understanding of customers' product and engineering specificationsParticipate in problem solving activitiesParticipate in Product, System and Process Audits as requiredAssist in the training of production personnel in all quality requirements when requiredAttend and or Champion quality meetings when requestedProvide support to all Departments for weld related issuesCover for the other Technicians if he/she is absentGenerating and upkeep of the Weld Set up Instructions, Weld Inspection Records and Weld Length recordsAbility to work well in a team environment or individuallyAudit and approve Special Material Requests and reworked material when requiredInitiate and coordinate problem reports and containmentsBuy off of the First-Off / Mid-Off processes, and set up verifications to ensure it is being done correctlyDemonstrate a sense of urgency to achieve resultsTake initiative to follow through on completion of tasks / projects, PMR's and CIP'sAbide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee HandbookCompliance with Company policies concerning applicable lawsWork EnvironmentBoth office setting and production environmentConstant communication with employees, peers, and managementFlexible hours as requiredPhysical DemandsAbility to work on computer for long periods of timeAbility to be present on the production floor on a daily basisHealth And SafetyMust work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and proceduresMust use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the CompanyOther DutiesThis job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities required for this job.
