Technical/vocational training related to job duties would be helpful. Eight years in a particular area, field, or craft, performing at a journey person or equivalent level with at least one year supervisory experience. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.Must be a current Sam Houston State University employee in order to be considered for this position.Nature & Purpose Of PositionPerforms advanced managerial work administering the daily operations of assigned areas. Provides supervision, coordination, and leadership to employees in assigned areas in a particular craft, skill, or unit, which includes Plumbing & Parking Services and Food Equipment Services.Primary ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the supervision and leadership of all subordinate employees in the assigned areas of responsibility, Plumbing & Parking Services and Food Equipment Services. Plans, organizes, and controls assigned duties. Assigns, schedules, and supervises workers in these assigned areas. Directs, delegates, and oversees the work of assigned employees. Schedules work assignments. Handles employee relations, problems, and other employee related areas such as interviewing, evaluating, making recommendations of applicants, and present employees. Handles discipline of employees. Provides training, both formal, informal, on the job training (OJT), and job knowledge from past experience. May have some department duties such as assisting in budgets, reports, department policies, and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.Other SpecificationsKnowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions.
