ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK PROJECT MANAGER
APPI is a wood veneer panel manufacturer and is seeking a project manager with an architectural millwork background. This role will ensure our projects are built correctly, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations. You will coordinate between sales, engineering, production, purchasing, finishing, shipping, and the customer.If you cannot manage details, schedules, and pressure simultaneously, this is not the role for you.ResponsibilitiesTake full responsibility for assigned jobs after handoff from salesReview drawings, specifications, and scope for completenessIdentify gaps, conflicts, or missing information before production beginsCreate and maintain project schedulesWork closely with drafting/engineering to ensure approved shop drawingsCoordinate material purchasing and track lead timesEnsure production schedule aligns with customer deadlinesCommunicate finish requirements, veneer selections, and special details clearly to productionMonitor bottlenecks and proactively adjustAct as primary point of contact after project awardProvide updates on schedule, material status, and delivery timingManage change orders properly — document, price, and get approvalsAddress issues early before they become problemsTrack labor and material usage against estimatesMonitor gross margin throughout the projectIdentify risks to profitability and escalate earlyApprove vendor invoices related to assigned jobsEnsure materials match specificationsVerify finish samples and approvalsConduct final review before shipmentProtect the company's reputation by preventing preventable mistakes Qualifications3+ years experience managing architectural millwork or wood panel projectsAbility to read architectural drawings and specificationsStrong understanding of millwork production processesHighly organized and deadline-drivenComfortable making decisions without constant supervisionClear and professional communication skillsExperience with veneer panels, high-end residential, yacht interiors, or commercial millworkERP system experience (JobBOSS, NetSuite, or similar)Field experience or installation knowledgePurchasing or estimating backgroundIt is not a paperwork-only desk job Performance Expectations No missed deadlines due to internal miscommunicationNo undocumented change ordersProduction always knows what they are building and whenCustomers receive proactive communication — not reactive excusesProjects maintain or improve estimated margins
