Optional deferred compensation program at employee's own expense.Job DescriptionNature of Work:The role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. Serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. Must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. A key element that enhances and distinguishes this position is that the candidate appropriately highlights their personal experience of recovery.EducationMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalency (GED). Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university, especially in the human services field.Minimum QualificationsMust provide personal statement describing what skills and abilities he/she has to offerMust have a minimum of two years of recovery from a substance use or co-occurring disorder. One year acceptable with a letter from a treatment professional who has personal knowledge of the individualMust complete peer specialist core training, peer counselor or comparable training program from a recognized and approved source within 18 months of entry into positionAbility to maintain effective peer recovery relationships with clientsNo current criminal justice system involvement.
