DescriptionJob Title: Guest (Substitute) CustodianPosition Function: Under direct supervision of Guest Staff Services and Custodial Services, the primary job of the Guest Custodian is to assist the custodial staff of a building in providing a clean, safe and sanitary environment for the students and staff. Perform a variety of custodial tasks for the building or campus while the regular custodian is off. A Guest (substitute) Custodian is directly responsible to the administrator of the building in which they are working and for all expectations set forth by the Human Resources and Custodial Services Departments. It is the Guest Custodian’s responsibility to use Absence Management and work with Guest Staff Services for daily assignments.Duties And ResponsibilitiesMust be able to work at least 15 assignments per school semester and follow through with all accepted assignments.Perform daily duties that may include, but not limited to:Dust all flat surfacesEmpty wastebasketsEmpty pencil sharpenersSweep floorsStraighten desksMop and/or spot mopClean equipment and replacing suppliesClean and service restroomsSweep assigned hallways, stairs and landingsLower flag if necessaryClean gym, locker room and auditoriumAssist with the clean-up of the lunchroomPerform weekly duties, which may include, but not limited to:BuffHigh dustingCarpet spottingReplace light bulbs as neededClean whiteboardsStrip, seal and wax floorsWash walls and furnitureClean carpetsPerform energy management functions such as:Turn off daylights and/or turn on night-lightsTurn off water in urinalsUnplug water fountainsOther items requested by the supervisor as found in the energy management guidelinesConsult with Supervising Building Custodian and/or Head Custodian relating to school activities and community use of building and arrange needed services and cleaningRespond to office and staff request (including set-up of TV, VCR, audio systems, etc.)Report building maintenance needs or supplies and equipment needs to Supervising Building Custodian and/or Head CustodianSecure building - check windows, doors, lights and turn on security system before leaving buildingRemove marks from floors and graffiti from walls as neededSpray buff hard surface floors as requestedPerform duties relating to recycling as requestedRespond to emergencies in an appropriate mannerPerform other duties as necessary or requested by the Head Custodian or AdministrationAdditional Duties: Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, building Principal, or building CustodianEquipment: This position requires the ability to use computers and standard custodial equipment.
