Job Title: Electrical/Firmware Test Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA 92618
Onsite Role
Responsibilities:
Must Have: Electrical testing, PCB circuit boards, C/C++ with coding background
Support the development, maintenance, and integration of test systems, embedded firmware, and verification tools for medical device products.
Will possess a strong combination of embedded firmware development, electrical engineering fundamentals, test system development, and hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot embedded firmware for microcontroller‑based test systems and medical device support equipment.
Develop automated test systems, test fixtures, and hardware/software tools used for product verification, validation, and manufacturing support.
Design and implement electrical circuits, interface boards, and supporting hardware required for test and measurement systems.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and quality engineers to support product integration and verification activities.
Develop software and firmware to support communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, BLE, or other embedded communication protocols.
Support design verification testing, root cause investigations, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
Create and maintain engineering documentation including requirements, design specifications, test protocols, traceability matrices, and reports.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and technical reviews.
Support supplier and external partner activities related to test equipment, components, and subsystem integration.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline. (Not mechanical engineering)
4 or more years of engineering experience with embedded systems, firmware development, electrical design, and test system development.
Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
Experience developing firmware for microcontroller‑based systems.
Experience designing, debugging, and troubleshooting electrical and embedded systems.
Experience developing automated test equipment, test fixtures, or engineering test systems.
Familiarity with laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, multimeters, and protocol analyzers.
