Concrete Estimator

Position SummaryBarton Malow Company is seeking a Concrete Estimator to join our Preconstruction department in Southfield, Michigan. This individual will prepare comprehensive estimates, engage in effective communication with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure the successful execution of structural concrete projects. This role will primarily focus on formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and finishing.Key Job ResponsibilitiesPrepare estimates for self-perform project pursuits, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating modelsAttend pre-bid meetings and perform site investigations to prepare estimateRead and understand contract documentsPerform detailed quantity take-offs and organizing the quantities with unit pricing in production of an estimateWrite detailed scopes of work for construction contracts to be implemented by Project Delivery.Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliersCommunicate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify pricing information Prepare estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysisAssist with the preparation of bid proposal for submittalPrepare outline schedules and determine critical path for proposed projects Assist staff members with various special projects related to preconstruction/estimatingSupport project teams with budget developmentCommunicate and reinforce the company vision, values and goalsPerform additional assignments per supervisor’s directionRequired Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, And AbilitiesBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent union craft field experience4+ years’ experience in construction estimatingKnowledge of all types of structural concrete projects, with an understanding of formwork, reinforcing steel, and place and finishExperience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction qualityWorking knowledge of trades: scope, time frames, field execution and potential risks/exposuresDemonstrated understanding and knowledge about estimating processes and delivery methodsBarton Malow is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
