Principal Support Services SupervisorInternal Services in Human Services Public Health (HSPH) seeks a Principal Support Services Supervisor with exceptional people skills to manage a dynamic team of front-line office support staff who provide a variety of front-line, administrative, and office support services and are deployed to work across multiple HSPH service area locations.Location and hours: This position is located at the Health Services Building at 525 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Typical work hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility required and will require travel to work locations within Hennepin County that may not be served by public transportation.About the position type: This position is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Human Services Public Health to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible. Click here to view the job classification specification.In this position, you will:Interview, select, supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate office support staff.Provide work direction and manage work of direct reports by setting clear objectives and measures.Establish, develop, and implement work unit policies, procedures, and objectives, and clearly communicate that information to the team.Monitor processes, progress and results while ensuring compliance with work procedures.Resolve complex problems related to clerical support functions and mediate conflicts and bring them to a resolution.Develop work schedules and assignments; plan, distribute and delegate workloads.Participate in and lead committees, team groups, and meetings.Need to have:Three years or more of office clerical or administrative support experience and one year or more of supervisory or lead worker experience.Access to reliable transportation to travel to work locations within Hennepin County that may not be served by public transportation.Nice to have:Experience: Working with people at all levels, including management and front-line staff. As a supervisor or lead worker of office support or customer service staff at multiple locations. Using Microsoft applications such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Mediating conflicts in a professional setting and bringing them to a resolution.Ability to: Motivate, train, inspire, and empower staff. Establish, communicate, and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population of coworkers and the public. Be flexible and successfully lead staff with differing work styles. Know when to step into a situation, and when to stand back.
