Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West Virginia.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Med Surg / TelemetryDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/01/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 1, 2026Length: 13 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel assignment in Wheeling, WV, requiring at least 2 years of experience and night shift availability.DetailsAcute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) in a hospital setting with 30 bedsCommon patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomy)Patient ratio of 1:6–7; candidates must be comfortable with ratios up to 1:7PCTs are available on the unit to support nursing staffTelemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techsIntermittent BiPAP used; no ventilator management requiredRNs are required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT resultsCharge RN is on the floor with a patient assignmentCharting via Epic (experience required)12-hour night shifts; scheduling managed through QGendaWeekends scheduled as needed, typically approximately half of all weekends during the assignmentNo on-call or standby requirementsTravelers are the first to float based on census needsRequirementsActive WV RN license or compact RN license currently in handMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredCurrent BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications requiredBSN not requiredComfortable working a 1:7 patient ratio when necessaryMust reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this positionCopy of unexpired driver's license required for considerationAny licensing disciplinary actions or hits must be disclosedAdditional Information13-week contract with 12-hour night shiftsScrub color: Navy BlueHoliday coverage scheduled as neededTravelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to applyTravelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year breakTwo professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)American Traveler Job ID #P-708729.
