Donor Services Coordinator - Midshift

POSITION PURPOSE: This mission-centered role is responsible for coordinating and assisting in the donation process to ensure all Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Saving Sight standards are met prior to distribution. SCHEDULE:11:00-23:00 Mon/Tue/Fri & Sat/Sun/Wed/Thur 4 weeks of in-office training ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The position's duties may include any or all of the following:Receive incoming referral calls from outside agencies, including organ procurement organizations, funeral homes, hospices, coroners and medical examinersEnter referral information into client specific databaseGuide referring contacts and outside partner agencies through the donation process and educate on referring location specific policy as needed and when applicablePerform preliminary donor screening to determine initial suitability for donation according to client specific criteriaCommunicate positively and effectively with donation partnersContinuous data entry into computer database of all relevant information and events associated with the referralAccess statewide donor registries, based on the potential donor's state of residencyDispatch technical staff to recovery site, based on final location of the potential donorEnsure that decedents are released per specific hospital policyAssess family dynamics and work with referring agency to determine best time and place for family approachDetermine legal hierarchy of authorizing personProvide support and information regarding eye donation to families of potential donorsProvide notification to family member or close friend when there is first person authorizationComplete donor risk assessment interview with donor family member or someone familiar with the potential donor's medical and social historyOperate within state Uniform Anatomical Gift Act(UAGA) and specific client standard operating proceduresObtain and review hospital medical records, technician recovery forms, serology requisitions, and other forms as applicable to determine suitability of the donorAssist with other functions and projects as directed by the DSC Manager or Director of Donor Services EDUCATION:High School diploma or equivalent requiredContinual training and certification as necessary QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:A minimum of one (1) year work experience in a call center or other customer service environmentStrong interpersonal, written, verbal, and phone communication skillsStrong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detailAbility to work independently, with limited direction, and in a team environmentAbility to work with distraction and to multi-task with frequent interruptionsKnowledge of medical terminology preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, general database, and web-based applicationsMust be able to handle information in a confidential, objective, professional mannerMust maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by the organizationMust have reliable transportation PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to travel on occasion for training or company needsAbility to cover shifts with short notice to ensure adequate staffingRequires a great amount of flexibility which could include day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hoursFrequent periods of intense concentration, attention to detail and accuracyAbility to handle mental and physical strain involved in use of printed materials and prolonged use of computer screensModerate manual dexterity for basic keyboardingLong periods of sitting may be requiredMust have COVID-19 vaccination ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:Normal office environment combined with normal outdoor exposures NOTE: The preceding statements describe the nature and level of assignments normally given job incumbents.
