Backend Engineer📍 Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site)💼 Employment Type: Full-time💰 Salary: Competitive + potential equity✈️ Visa Sponsorship: Available ABOUT THE ROLE:We're looking for a Backend Engineer to build and scale high-concurrency backend systems powering messaging, phone, and SMS workflows. You'll work on distributed systems, message routing, and reliability-critical infrastructure used across multiple customers. MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS:Candidates must meet all of the following:▪️5+ years of hands-on programming experience (formal employment is not required).▪️Practical implementation experience in at least TWO of these technologies:RustSwiftTypeScript/Node.js BackendMicroservicesCan clearly demonstrate ownership of a backend system involving one or more of the following:▪️High concurrency▪️Distributed systems▪️Messaging/SMS▪️Reliability-sensitive infrastructure▪️Available to work full-time, on-site in San Francisco. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :Experience across three or more of the four core technology areas:.Messaging, SMS, telecommunications, or multi-tenant systems.Production reliability, observability, performance optimisation, or incident response.Open-source contributions or independently built systems with real users.
