Overview
Our client, a global leader in medical device innovation, is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to support verification, validation, and production readiness of electronic hardware systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products meet functional, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements from early prototype through full production release. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware Design, Firmware, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to drive product robustness and test excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for:
PCB assemblies
Electronic subsystems
Complete hardware products
Design, build, and maintain:
Hardware test setups
Custom fixtures
Test equipment and validation tools
Perform:
Functional testing
Electrical and performance testing
Stress and environmental testing
Debug and troubleshoot hardware failures at:
Component level
Board level
System level
Review schematics, layouts, and design changes from a testability and reliability perspective
Develop automated test scripts and tools to improve:
Test coverage
Repeatability
Efficiency
Support:
Design Verification Testing (DVT)
Production Validation Testing (PVT)
Manufacturing bring-up
Assist with regulatory and compliance testing (EMC/EMI, ESD, thermal, safety)
Document:
Test procedures
Results
Failure analysis
Corrective actions
Provide recommendations to improve design robustness, manufacturability, and testability
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
3+ years of hands-on electronic hardware testing experience
Strong understanding of:
Analog and digital circuits
Power systems
Embedded hardware
Proficiency with lab equipment:
Oscilloscopes
Logic analyzers
Power supplies
Signal generators
Digital multimeters
Ability to read and interpret:
Schematics
PCB layouts
Datasheets
Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills
Clear technical documentation and communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with test automation (Python, Shell/Command-line scripting, or similar)
Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware interaction
Experience with communication protocols:
I²C
SPI
UART
USB
Ethernet
Manufacturing test development experience
Knowledge of:
Reliability testing
Environmental testing
Failure analysis methods
Exposure to regulatory standards such as FCC, CE, UL, IEC
