Job DetailsDescriptionPosition SummaryThe EPG Field Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving the service and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate, and repair include diesel engines, electric power generators, and allied products. Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.Essential Responsibilities & ExpectationsPlans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and proceduresOrders and return parts for assigned jobs in a timely mannerPerforms the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustmentsPerforms preventive maintenance service according to factory guidelinesDemonstrates proper use of service information systemsWorks in field service as experienced Technician as requiredAdheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and proceduresWorks independently in the field as requiredMust have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or the equivalent required. Technical training preferred. ExperienceA minimum of one (1) year's work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required.Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are requiredSkills & CompetenciesIntermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic, and repair skillsWritten communication skillsBasic computer skillsJob TrainingArea specific technical trainingOSHA and MSHA required trainingVendor technical sites (Infocast, Liftnet, SIMSi, etc.)Safety SummaryWorking ConditionsWork is typically performed in a Service Department shop or on the location of customer job sites. Exposure to physical risk and all-weather conditions is associated with this position. Standing on hard surfaces for prolonged periods of time often required. Physical RequirementsAbility to speak, listen, write and type effectively. Ability to safely reach, kneel, grasp, and stoop as required by the position. Ability to safely lift up to 75lbs as required by the position. Ability to safely climb on and under heavy equipment as required by the position.
