Join us and be part of a culture that values collaboration, innovation, and extraordinary results.OverviewThe Associate General Counsel (AGC) plays a critical role in partnering with the Deputy General Counsel and business leaders to support the company’s business objectives and ensure the company’s legal, compliance, and risk-management functions operate smoothly, efficiently, and reliably. This is an execution-focused, operationally oriented role for an experienced lawyer who takes pride in enabling progress while exercising sound judgment. The ideal candidate understands that strong legal departments are most effective when their work is pragmatic and business-oriented. The AGC will handle a wide range of legal matters across the business and, over time, will take primary ownership of one or more substantive areas based on business needs and individual strengths. You will be expected to handle a broad range of legal matters in a variety of areas, which may be adjusted to align with your individual strengths, experience and preferences. The AGC position could be a strong fit for someone coming from a more specialized practice who wants to broaden into a business-facing, in-house role. Some representative areas include: Employment-related issues Compliance and policy questions Disputes with customers, vendors, or other third parties Corporate and governance support Litigation and litigation avoidance Other general in-house legal matters as neededIn Addition, You Will Serve as a practical, business-oriented legal advisor who enables progress while managing risk Take increasing ownership of specific subject areas over time Make decisions confidently within scope and escalate cross-domain or enterprise issues appropriately Support public company obligations as neededOur ideal candidate will have the following skills and competencies: Prior experience handling matters independently, not solely in a supporting role Strong legal judgment with a track record of independently assessing risk and making sound, defensible recommendations Interest in growth through increased scope and ownership Composure, sound judgment, and a solutions driven mindset Pride in being the steady, reliable legal voice behind successful outcomes Collegiality and genuine commitment to enabling others’ success and motivated by building systems that workQualificationsBasic Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolActive license to practice law in Viriginia or eligible to practice as in-house counsel in Virginia5-8+ years of relevant legal experience, including experience managing matters independentlyDemonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice across a range of subject areasExperience advising internal business partners and navigating competing priorities effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into clear, actionable guidanceStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneouslyPreferred ExperienceFamiliarity with employment law, compliance, corporate governance, or general commercial matters including litigation and litigation avoidancePrior in-house legal experienceExperience supporting a public companyPosition SpecificsThe initial base salary range for this position is expected to be between $180,000 and $210,000 annually. The final base salary offered will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, depth of experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, our compensation package may include other components such as commissions and discretionary bonuses.ePlus offers a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, employee stock purchase program and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and personal leave), dependent on the position offered.
