A team where everyone makes play happen.Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – SPEARElectronic Arts | Vancouver, BC (Hybrid) or Remote (North America) May Be PossibleAbout The RoleElectronic Arts is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the Security Platform Engineering & Anti-Cheat Response team (SPEAR).SPEAR builds and operates the systems that protect EA’s games and players. This includes the Javelin anti-cheat platform, security infrastructure, and real-time detection systems operating at global scale.As a Senior SRE, you will design and operate reliable, scalable, and secure systems that support millions of players, while helping ensure fair and safe gameplay across EA titles.ResponsibilitiesArchitect, develop, test, deploy, and maintain highly available anti-cheat and security platforms for games played by millions of global playersImplement monitoring and alerting to verify functionality, performance, and costingEnsure reliability and performance of real-time detection and enforcement systemsLead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortemsBuild automation to reduce operational toil and improve system resilienceCreate and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and operational documentationSupport a great player experience by participating in live service support and incident response Share on-call responsibilities with other engineers, and support critical releases after normal business hours when neededCollaborate with world-class engineers across platform, game, and security teamsUtilize security best practices and original techniques to keep player data secure, prevent cheating, and promote fair play Qualifications6+ years in SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, or Security EngineeringStrong scripting skills (Python, bash, PowerShell, or similar)Experience running production systems at scaleHands-on experience operating and troubleshooting both Linux and WindowsDeep experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)Strong experience with Terraform-based infrastructureHands-on experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for logging, observability, or analytics at scaleBackground in high-scale distributed systems or real-time data pipelinesExperience with observability, monitoring, and incident responseFamiliarity with identity systems (OIDC) and secrets management (Vault)Nice To HaveInfrastructure & PlatformBuild and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and HelmOperate Kubernetes platforms on EKSWork with core AWS services including S3, SQS, IAM, and Route53Work with distributed data systems such as Redis or Valkey for caching and high-throughput workloadsUse tools like kubectl and Lens for cluster operationsSecurity & ReliabilityDesign secure systems using OIDC-based identity and IAM best practicesManage secrets with HashiCorp VaultSupport certificate lifecycle and cryptographic assets using VenafiObservabilityBuild and maintain observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, ELK, Datadog, and OpenTelemetryCI/CDGitLab pipelinesExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field Experience with anti-cheat, security, fraud detection, or abuse prevention systemsExperience in gaming or player-facing platformsCoding and debugging experience in RustWhy Join EA SPEARWork on systems that directly protect millions of playersHelp shape the future of anti-cheat and game security at scaleBuild highly impactful systems used across EA’s global ecosystemPay Transparency - North AmericaCompensation And BenefitsThe ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).PAY RANGES British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$114,300 - $156,200 CAD Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane) *$122,300 - $158,500 USDPay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
