Azure Systems Engineer
Robert Half is seeking an Azure Systems Engineer to support a complex cloud infrastructure environment within the aerospace industry. This role focuses on designing, automating, and maintaining Microsoft Azure environments while implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable cloud operations.This position works closely with engineering, security, and operations teams to build highly available cloud infrastructure while reducing manual configuration through automation. Duration: 6-month contract (with potential for extension)Pay rate: $60-$70/hourlyLocation: 100% onsite in Lynnwood, Washington Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as TerraformManage the full lifecycle of Azure resources including subscriptions, networking, compute, storage, and platform servicesImplement and support Azure networking components including VNets, NSGs, firewalls, load balancers, and connectivity solutionsDeploy and manage Azure compute services, including virtual machines, scale sets, and platform servicesIntegrate Azure infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines to enable automated provisioning and updatesSupport identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, managed identities, and conditional accessMonitor system performance using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics and implement proactive remediation and alertingImplement and support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions within AzureCollaborate with security teams to implement Azure security best practices and compliance controlsTroubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysisDevelop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and infrastructure standardsAssist with cloud cost optimization and capacity planning Required QualificationsExperience4–8+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role in an enterprise environmentHands-on experience supporting production workloads in Microsoft AzureProven experience implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code in production environmentsTechnical SkillsMicrosoft Azure IaaS and PaaS fundamentalsInfrastructure as Code using TerraformAzure networking and security architectureMicrosoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and RBAC administrationConfiguration management using AnsibleMonitoring and logging using Azure Monitor and Log AnalyticsWindows and/or Linux systems administrationScripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or similarPreferred QualificationsAzure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and Azure environmentsExperience integrating Infrastructure as Code with CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with compliance frameworks such as SOX, NIST, ISO, ITAR, or DFARSExperience supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions The pay range for this position is $60/hourly and $70/hourly.
