Economics Student Office AssistantClassification: Student Employee (non-exempt) Name and Address of Employer: St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave, Northfield, MN 55057 Department Name: Economics Unit Number (5 digits): 11160 Length of Position: See Employment Authorization Contact Person/Supervisor: AAA of Economics/Business & Management Studies Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour Description of the Position: The Economics Student Office Assistant assists and supports the AAA and overall department with daily duties and special projects. Tasks include general office duties, running errands, and updating bulletin boards. Other duties include graphic design work for bulletin boards and department event promotion, and assistance with details for various department events. Ability to assist in updating departmental websites a plus. Transferable Skills: Technology: manipulate information, construct ideas, and use technology to achieve strategic goals Communication: communicate in a clear and organized manner so others can effectively understand, promptly inform relevant others when needing guidance with assigned tasks Critical thinking: proactively anticipate needs and prioritize action steps, multi-task well in a fast-paced environment Teamwork: collaborate with others to achieve common goals, be accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables Professionalism: be present and prepared, consistently meet or exceed goals and expectations, have an attention to detail Duties and Responsibilities: Create promotional posters for department events and bulletin boards Keep bulletin boards up to date and revise as needed Assist with organization and preparation for departmental events Perform daily office tasks as needed - retrieve mail and packages and distribute accordingly, hang up posters, run errands Organize and inventory work room supplies Assist AAA with maintaining department websites Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Assertive in asking questions and communicating clearly Ability to work with minimal supervision Skill with Canva and graphic/poster design experience preferred Familiarity with Powerpoint, Microsoft Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets, and Google forms preferred Ability to work consistently, follow through, and meet deadlines Familiarity with Economics Department and classes preferred Willingness to learn WordPress preferred Must be professional, dependable, hardworking, trustworthy, discreet, and maintain confidentiality
