Our team praises Plus Power's culture and excels through our game-changing mission and supportive ecosystem.About the RoleWe are looking for a Deputy General Counsel, specializing in Commercial Real Estate, to join the Legal team. This qualified individual would work under the guidance of the General Counsel to lead the legal counsel and guidance to the Real Estate Team (which sits within the Development Department) and to Plus Power more broadly, with the support of one report (Counsel, Real Estate) and a paralegal dedicated to the Real Estate Team. In this role, this individual will be responsible for supporting legal drafting for site acquisition efforts, supporting real estate de-risking activities, and representing real estate legal in Plus Power's project financings and tax equity investments. This role will also have opportunities to support and collaborate with teams across Plus Power's functional groups, including the broader Development team, as well as the Permitting, Interconnection, EPC, Finance and O&M teams.Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent Plus Power's Real Estate Team to address the evolving real estate priorities within Plus Power's project portfolio, all with the support of the Counsel, Real EstateDraft and negotiate option to purchase agreements, option to lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, crossing consents, amendments and various other real property agreementsSupport the Real Estate Team in finding resolution to complex title and survey issuesSupport the Real Estate Team in site acquisition closingsSupport the Finance and Real Estate Teams in providing Legal representation for all real estate matters for project financings and tax equity investmentsLead and mentor the Counsel, Real Estate, empowering them to succeed and grow in their careerSelect, engage and oversee local counsel and other external counselSkills & QualificationsJ.D. requiredAt least 2 - 3 years of experience within a top-tier law firm in a commercial real estate practice groupAt least 3 –-5 years of experience supporting real estate efforts for utility scale renewable energy-related developmentExtensive experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on purchase and sale agreements, option agreements, ground lease agreements, easements, amendments and other real property agreementsStrong experience in title and survey review, risk identification and risk resolutionExtensive experience in negotiating title insurance policies, in particular, with energy title policies secured for renewable energy and/or energy storage projectsStrong track record supporting real estate matters in complex project financingsDeep experience advising on real estate aspects of complex M&A transactionsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersedStrong presentation and writing skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teamsAbility to effectively use Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointCompensation, Location, and BenefitsHighly competitive total compensation from one of North America's leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law.
