As a Medical Records Assistant, you will performcomplex clerical functions by maintainingIndividual Unit Records for ahabilitative facility housing 200+ persons with intellectual disabilities. You will code admissions anddiagnoses, maintainaccurate data regarding centralized records, uphold confidentiality of information, adhere to HIPAA regulations, and respondto other agencies, billing centers, or primary family contacts. Key duties will include:AssigningInternational Classification of Disease (ICD-10)codes on encounter formsfor billing Medicare
Purging Unit Recordsaccording to policy guidelines
Filingdocuments in the appropriate charts
Serving asassistant to the HIPAA Privacy officer
AccessingFACT and CENNET data bases
Completing discharges and preparing files for permanent storage

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 1st shift (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Overtime and travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of clerical experience maintaining or reviewing medical records, transcribing dictated or recorded medical information, or conducting medical abstracting and coding;or
Graduation from an accredited medical secretarial, medical records, medical transcription, medical assisting, medical coding, or health information management program;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
