Overview
In this role you architect and operate scalable virtualization infrastructure for our trading platforms on OpenStack. You will collaborate with infrastructure and software teams to design a next-generation VM platform, replacing a large VMware estate. You’ll automate deployments and monitoring, optimize performance and network throughput, and perform deep-dive triage. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering with cross-functional impact in a fast, data-driven trading environment.
ResponsibilitiesAutomate and evolve home-grown tooling (Python/Bash) and use Jenkins to automate bare-metal and virtual deployments, monitoring, and maintenanceTune virtualization environments and network stacks for performance and throughputPerform root-cause analysis on system issues and implement scalable solutionsCollaborate with stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designsDesign and implement the next-generation VM platform in OpenStack to replace 18000 VMware guestsMonitor cluster capacity and forecast resource demands; develop monitoring and capacity planning tools
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline1–5 years' experience building Linux-based platforms at scaleFamiliarity with kernel-level and I/O tweaks; familiarity with sysctl, strace, tcpdump, netstatHands-on automation experience in PythonIn-depth experience with OpenStack and open-source virtualization (e.g., Red Hat OpenShift, kubevirt or similar)collaboration with cross-functional teamsproblem-solving and analytical thinkingstakeholder communicationOpenStackRed Hat OpenShiftkubevirt
