OverviewYou will design, build, test/debug, and deploy a string automation machine for our toy factory production line. This project includes a combination of pneumatics, electronics, and mechanical systems that make more of our ZipString products with higher consistency and less human operators.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for design, build, and test of the machine but not deployment:Conduct whiteboarding/brainstorming sessions to discuss possible solutions and architecture for machines and fixtures. Understand project requirements and identify root problemsResearch off-the-shelf solutions and methods that are similar and provide design inspirationOutsource machined parts from suppliers like JLCCNC, and/or machine custom parts for the assemblies.Source components from vendors like JLCMC and McMasterBuild prototypes and subsystems of machines with validation of each subprocessPerform integrations of subsystems, connecting them together for the overall production process.Design the state machine logic, control flow, and program electronics with very basic human machine interfaces/controlsDebug the machines here in person in AtlantaPrepare schematics, drawings, 3D data, and code documentation to help support production staff and deployment overseas. This includes the calibration/adjustments, care, and maintenance of the machines.SkillsStrong mechanical and electronics knowledge related to manufacturing equipment, tooling, and machining processes.Basic control panel design with consideration for human factorsExperience with sensors of various types, and handling dataSolid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematic design 3D modeling with movement simulationStrong troubleshooting skills for electromechanical systems
