This entry‐level position supports our Quality Control department by conducting laboratory and field testing on hot mix asphalt and aggregates to ensure compliance with federal, state, and customer specifications.The role works closely with asphalt plant personnel, construction teams, and governmental agencies and reports directly to the QC/QA Manager.Compensation$23.00 - $30.00Main Responsibilities* Perform sampling and laboratory testing on hot mix asphalt and aggregates* Record test results, maintain logs, and prepare basic test reports* Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and lab supply inventory* Support field monitoring to ensure compliance with specifications* Communicate findings to plant personnel, construction teams, agencies, and customers* Complete required reports for governmental and customer specifications* Perform additional duties as assignedSkillsKnowledge of hot mix asphalt quality control dataExperience with lab equipment such as gyratory compactors, sieves, TMD apparatus, ignition furnaceFamiliarity with paving processes and construction material standardsStrong attention to detail and ability to analyze numerical dataAbility to work independently and within a teamProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong organizational and communication skillsExperienceMinimum 2+ years of general work experienceLaboratory or construction materials experience preferred but not requiredEducationHigh school diploma or associate degree requiredNYSDOT QC/QA Certification preferred but not requiredPhysical RequirementsExtensive standing and walkingClimbing stairs and ladders as neededAbility to lift up to 80 lbsAbility to work near mechanical equipment and heating devices (hot plates, propane burners, ignition ovens, etc.)Ability to work in an active construction, industrial, or quarry environmentColas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
