Electrical Project Manager

Position OverviewThe Construction Manager / Project Manager – Regional Portfolio Coordination plays a critical role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of electric utility infrastructure projects across a regional portfolio. This position serves as a central coordination point between Inside Plant (IP) and Outside Plant (OP) construction teams, engineering groups, planners, and portfolio leadership to ensure alignment of schedules, accurate reporting of project status, and proactive resolution of project risks.The role requires strong experience in utility construction, particularly electric distribution and transmission infrastructure, including underground duct bank installations supporting 4kV, 13kV, 26kV, and 69kV systems. The Construction Manager / Project Manager will facilitate communication across multiple stakeholders, monitor engineering and construction progress, and provide structured reporting to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.This position combines construction management, project coordination, portfolio tracking, and stakeholder communication responsibilities to improve transparency, coordination, and execution across multiple active projects.Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction CoordinationCoordinate construction activities across Distribution Inside Plant (IP) scopes of work for projects within the regional portfolio.Support coordination of Outside Plant (OP) Distribution and Transmission underground construction activities, including civil duct bank installations supporting 4kV, 13kV, 26kV, and 69kV systems.Interface with Inside Plant and Outside Plant construction supervision teams to collect and validate construction progress updates.Facilitate communication between field construction teams, engineering, and project management to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and priorities.Support coordination of construction resources and scheduling with Palisades and MCW planning teams.Engineering & Work Package CoordinationTrack engineering work packages as they transition between Palisades Division and MCW engineering teams.Monitor engineering progress, estimate development status, and potential risks to project schedules or budgets.Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure work packages are progressing in alignment with construction timelines.Assist with identifying engineering bottlenecks and escalating potential risks impacting project delivery.Portfolio & Project Status ReportingDevelop and maintain detailed bi-weekly portfolio reports summarizing project progress and status across all construction scopes.Provide construction status updates for:Distribution Inside Plant constructionDistribution Outside Plant constructionMCW Distribution OP constructionMCW Transmission OP constructionTrack engineering progress and estimate development status for both distribution and transmission projects.Coordinate with PMO teams to capture portfolio cost and schedule performance, including:Cost Actuals vs Estimate at Completion (EAC)Schedule performance against key milestones and deliverables.Stakeholder Communication & Meeting FacilitationOrganize and facilitate biweekly in-person coordination meetings at Secaucus Headquarters with project teams and stakeholders.Prepare meeting agendas and compile meeting minutes, project updates, status changes, and action items.Serve as the primary interface between construction teams, project management, planners, and leadership.Ensure consistent communication across stakeholders to prevent information gaps, duplicated requests, or missed updates.Construction Progress TrackingMaintain and distribute weekly Outside Plant project trackers for project teams.Track quantities and installation progress of:PolesOverhead wireManholes and conduit (MH&C)Underground duct bank installationsProvide project teams with updated installation quantities and construction progress metrics.Forecasting & Project Planning SupportForecast and communicate Utility Review Board (URB) visit schedules to ensure project teams are prepared.Assist in coordinating engineering and construction schedules with division schedulers and project schedulers.Track division estimate development status and monitor priority levels for estimates.Strategic Impact of the RoleThis role provides significant operational value by:Creating a centralized coordination hub for regional project portfolio management.Improving communication across engineering, construction, and project management teams.Reducing project delays caused by miscommunication or missing information.Identifying trends and potential issues early to allow proactive mitigation.Supporting leadership with accurate, real-time project visibility across the portfolio.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).5–10+ years of experience supporting electric utility construction projects.Experience with electric distribution and transmission construction, particularly underground infrastructure.Strong understanding of utility engineering work packages, estimates, and construction sequencing.Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-project portfolios or large capital programs.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with electric utilities or large utility contractors.Familiarity with distribution and transmission voltage classes (4kV–69kV).Experience coordinating inside plant and outside plant utility construction projects.Knowledge of PMO reporting processes and cost/schedule performance tracking.Key SkillsConstruction project coordinationUtility
