Structural / Civil Forensic Engineer (P.E. Required)Location: Paramus, New Jersey (Onsite with regular field travel throughout NY/NJ)Job Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleThis is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role involving field inspections, litigation material review, code research, technical analysis, report preparation, and direct communication with retaining attorneys.Prior forensic engineering experience is strongly preferred, but we are open to well-qualified Professional Engineers with relevant civil, structural, mechanical, construction, or investigative experience.Key ResponsibilitiesField Investigations: Conduct forensic engineering investigations and site inspections throughout New Jersey, New York City, and surrounding areas, including detailed measurements and photographic documentation.Technical Analysis: Review legal pleadings, deposition transcripts, surveillance video, maintenance records, and construction documents to evaluate incident mechanisms and safety practices.Code & Standard Research: Research applicable building codes, property-maintenance requirements, OSHA regulations, and ASTM/ANSI standards.Reporting & Communication: Develop independent engineering opinions, author clear and defensible forensic reports, and communicate directly with attorneys and clients.Litigation Support: Manage multiple active matters, meet litigation-driven deadlines, and assist with deposition and trial preparation (with opportunities to develop into a testifying expert).Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New Jersey and/or New York (willingness/eligibility to obtain licensure in the other state if not already held).Approximately 5+ years of professional engineering experience.Exceptional written communication and technical report-writing skills.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to field inspections.Preferred:Prior forensic engineering, litigation-support, accident-investigation, or expert-witness experience.Experience investigating slips, trips and falls, premises conditions, or construction/workplace accidents.Prior deposition or trial testimony experience.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary with a bonus program.Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.401(k) savings plan.Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.Professional-license and Continuing Education (CE) reimbursement.Mileage reimbursement.Professional development and direct mentorship from experienced forensic engineers.Schedule & TravelThis is a full-time, onsite position based in Paramus, New Jersey.
