Forensic Engineer

Structural / Civil Forensic Engineer (P.E. Required)Location: Paramus, New Jersey (Onsite with regular field travel throughout NY/NJ)Job Type: Full-TimeResponsibilitiesConduct forensic engineering investigations and site inspections throughout New Jersey, New York City, and surrounding areas.Perform detailed field measurements, photographic documentation, testing, and evaluation of physical conditions.Review pleadings, deposition transcripts, photographs, surveillance video, maintenance records, construction documents, incident reports, and other case materials.Research and evaluate applicable building codes, property-maintenance requirements, safety regulations, engineering standards, manufacturer requirements, and generally accepted engineering practices.Analyze conditions involving walkways, sidewalks, stairs, ramps, entrances, buildings, construction sites, workplaces, equipment, and other accident locations.Evaluate accident mechanisms, hazardous conditions, code and standard compliance, causation, safety practices, and related engineering issues within the scope of the available evidence.Develop independent, technically supportable engineering opinions.Prepare clear, detailed, and defensible forensic engineering reports for litigation matters.Communicate directly with attorneys and clients regarding investigations, technical findings, additional information needed, and case status.Manage multiple active matters and meet litigation-driven deadlines.Assist with deposition and trial preparation.Provide deposition and trial testimony as experience develops.Work collaboratively with other HUB engineers, analysts, and technical staff while maintaining independent professional engineering judgment.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another closely related engineering discipline.Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New Jersey and/or New York.Willingness and eligibility to obtain P.E. licensure in the other state if not already licensed there.Approximately 5 or more years of professional engineering experience.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Exceptional written communication and technical report-writing skills.Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to explain engineering concepts clearly to non-engineers.Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.Comfortable working in a litigation environment and willing to develop into a testifying expert.Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to field inspections throughout New Jersey, New York City, and surrounding areas.Preferred:Prior forensic engineering, litigation-support, accident-investigation, or expert-witness experience.Experience investigating slips, trips and falls, premises conditions, stairs, ramps, sidewalks, building conditions, construction accidents, or workplace incidents.Civil, structural, building, construction, or property-condition assessment experience.Experience researching and applying New York and New Jersey building codes, property-maintenance requirements, OSHA requirements, ASTM/ANSI standards, or other applicable safety standards.Experience performing field testing, measurements, photographic documentation, and evidence-based failure or accident analysis.Prior deposition or trial testimony experience.Experience communicating directly with attorneys, insurers, contractors, property owners, or other professional clients.Schedule & TravelThis is a full-time, onsite position based in Paramus, New Jersey. Regular local and regional travel for site inspections throughout New Jersey and New York City is required (most field assignments are day trips).
