Job Description Meet Dr. George FelicianoPosition SummaryUnder the supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant (PA) that Florida Orthopaedic Institute is seeking will assess, plan, and deliver direct patient care in both clinical and surgical settings for a high-volume adult reconstruction / total joints practice. This role supports Dr. George Feliciano, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint replacement surgery, using innovative and less invasive techniques to help patients maintain and enjoy active lifestyles.Dr. Feliciano has built a successful joint replacement practice and is recognized for quality care across a wide range of patients, from active adults to those with advanced arthritic needs. He integrates modern approaches like computer-assisted direct anterior hip replacements, and brings a comprehensive perspective to surgical reconstruction and rehabilitation.This position is ideal for a PA who seeks a long-term practice relationship, enjoys collaborative care, and is ready to grow into increasing autonomy in a dynamic clinical and perioperative environment.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programCurrent Florida licensure as a Physician AssistantCurrent NCCPA certificationMinimum of 1-3 years of orthopaedic experience preferred (especially in joint replacement / total joints)Proven ability to work efficiently in a high-volume clinic and perioperative settingStrong clinical judgment, organization, and communication skillsComfortable supporting rounding and call responsibilitiesInitiative and collaborative mindset aligned with physician expectationsBLS required (ACLS preferred)Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the supervising physician in office, hospital, and surgical settings, including pre-operative, intra-operative (first assist), and post-operative careConduct comprehensive history and physicals and perform orthopaedic assessments focused on hip and knee joint issuesSupport a high-volume clinic by managing patient flow, follow-ups, and continuity of carePerform or assist with in-office procedures (including injections and other orthopaedic techniques within scope)Participate in hospital rounding, inpatient coordination, and discharge planningFirst assist in surgeries, especially hip and knee replacements and related proceduresProvide support during ER consults and urgent care calls as part of assigned call responsibilitiesWrite and manage pre-operative, post-operative, and discharge orders (with physician countersignature as required)Apply and remove orthopaedic devices (casts, splints, braces)Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and rehabilitation protocolsAccurately document clinical encounters and treatment plans in the electronic medical recordCommunicate promptly with the physician regarding clinical concerns or unexpected findingsCollaborate with clinical and administrative teams to sustain an efficient, patient-centered environmentUphold FOI standards for safety, professionalism, and teamworkParticipate in professional development and continuing education activitiesPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedAbout Florida Orthopaedic InstituteAt Florida Orthopaedic Institute, our mission is to deliver world-class orthopaedic care and an exceptional patient experience.
