We provide integrated services to our clients in the Commercial Real Estate, Institutional, and Transportation Markets, and we continually focus on client success.The recent success of S&ME's Nashville office has come at a time of nearly unparalleled company profitability, with Employee-Owners benefiting from significant increases in stock value and significant investments in our company's future.Become an Employee-Owner at S&ME and play an active role in our continued growth!Visit theLifetab on our LinkedIn profile to learn more about life at S&ME.What You Will Do:As aConstruction Materials Project Manager , you will take a leading role in managing project responsibilities across scoping, execution, technical documentation, and mentorship of junior staff.Testing construction materials:Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.Analyzing construction plans and specifications:Review project documents to accurately schedule testing and inspection services to meet project requirements.Recording and managing field activities:Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination.Preparing reports and proposals:Draft reports and proposals for materials testing and special inspection projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation.Communicating daily:Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.What We Are Looking For:We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn within a collaborative engineering environment. You enjoy balancing field and office work, adapting well to changing priorities, and are eager to grow your technical skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.Qualifications:Education:High School diploma or GEDBachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a construction-related fieldExperience:Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt, including progressive Project Management responsibilitiesCertifications/Professional Licensure-Registrations:Active Construction Materials industry certifications such as:American Concrete Institute (ACI):Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/orInternational Code Council (ICC):Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)Engineer in Training (EIT) and on track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) or already have a Professional Engineer (PE)Key Competencies:Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English languageWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:Working outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs ariseWe Are S&ME:At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
