Junior Construction Estimator

A Junior Construction Estimator supports senior staff by helping calculate project costs, performing material takeoffs, soliciting subcontractor bids, and preparing cost estimates and bid proposals, focusing on data collection and initial analysis under guidance to learn the trade and ensure accurate project pricing. Key duties include reviewing plans, using estimating software, liaising with vendors, and maintaining bid documentation, while developing skills in cost forecasting and risk assessment. Key Responsibilities: Takeoffs & Costing: Perform quantity takeoffs for materials and labor, and assist in pricing direct and indirect costs. Bid Support: Solicit and manage bids from subcontractors and suppliers using software, phone, and email. Documentation: Prepare initial cost estimates, bid labels, and cost summaries for review. Data Management: Organize bid files, archive data, and maintain vendor/subcontractor directories. Collaboration: Work with project managers, senior estimators, architects, and engineers. Analysis: Analyze project plans, specs, and addenda to understand scope and identify cost factors. Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs. Essential Skills & Qualifications: High school diploma/GED, with construction or project management experience preferred. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore) and basic computer skills. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
