General Counsel
Our client, a major luxury hospitality investor, is seeking a General Counsel in their North Miami headquarters.What You’ll DoAs General Counsel, you’ll serve as the company’s chief legal strategist and trusted advisor to the CFO, CEO and executive team. You’ll lead all legal matters across our hospitality, retail, development, investment, and operational platforms.This role is equal parts dealmaker, strategist, risk manager, and business partner.Your Day-to-Day Will Include:Leading sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, including:Acquisitions and dispositionsLuxury hotel development dealsMixed-use and retail development projectsComplex leasing transactionsJoint ventures and partnership structuresConstruction and development agreementsDebt and equity financingsStructuring and negotiating high-value hospitality and retail transactions with investors, lenders, brands, operators, and development partnersAdvising senior leadership and the C-suite on legal, strategic, and operational mattersManaging outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions and specialtiesOverseeing corporate governance, entity management, and general corporate mattersHandling employment-related legal issues and partnering with HR leadership on workforce strategy and risk managementBuilding, mentoring, and leading a high-performing legal team of attorneys and paralegalsCollaborating cross-functionally with development, finance, operations, acquisitions, construction, and asset management teamsHelping the business move fast while protecting the company intelligently and commerciallyWhat We’re Looking ForRequired Experience:15+ years of legal experience, ideally with a combination of top law firm and in-house experiencePrior experience as a General Counsel or Deputy General CounselSignificant experience leading:Complex commercial real estate transactionsHospitality and mixed-use development dealsJoint venture negotiationsSophisticated financing transactionsLarge-scale leasing workStrong background in corporate and commercial legal mattersExperience managing employment-related legal issuesProven leadership experience managing attorneys, paralegals, and outside counselExceptional negotiation, communication, and executive presence skillsAbility to operate both strategically and practically in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environmentJD from an accredited law school and active bar membership (preferably in Florida)
