Job Description
SummaryWe're looking for an experienced carpenter to join our team and help us create the next generation of beautiful designs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, as well as experience with a variety of tools and techniques. He or she will be able to work independently, as well as take direction from our lead carpenter.Duties & Responsibilities:Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirementsPrepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring toolsStudy specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials requiredShape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power sawsAssemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glueErect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levelBuild or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power toolsFinish surfaces of woodwork or wallboardInstall trim pieces such as moldings, casings, or baseboards.Hang drywall sheets, apply plaster or other compounds, and sand seams between sheets to prepare wall surface for painting or wallpaperingFit and install windows, doors, stairs, millwork, and hardwarePlan and lay out work to sequence and alternate finish installation, considering appearance, access, and structural supportRequired Skills and QualificationsProven experience as carpenterSolid understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and constructionExcellent mathematical skills and understanding complex plans and drawings.High attention to detail and accuracyGood physical strength, stamina, and coordinationAbility to work long hours standing, bending, and stooping.3-5 years experience in construction and or carpentry work.Preferred Skills and QualificationsLeadership and supervisory experienceProject management experienceWorking knowledge of CAD software and other computer programsCabinet making and wood product experience a plus.Certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship programEqual Employment Opportunity EmployerSmartLam North America is an equal opportunity employer and makes all employment decisions without regard to race, religion, color, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), national origin, disability, age, genetic information, or any other status protected under applicable federal, state, or local laws.
