HVAC Installation Technician

With competitive compensation and an attractive benefits package, TAG is an exciting place to work.TAG Refrigeration is seeking a Commercial HVAC Installation Technician to support commercial HVAC construction projects in and around the Houston, TX area.Role Summary:The Commercial HVAC Installation Technician is responsible for the installation and replacement of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in retail, grocery, industrial, and institutional facilities. This role supports new construction, remodels, and large-scale equipment upgrades, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with mechanical codes, project specifications, and manufacturer requirements.Roles and Responsibilities:Install commercial HVAC equipment including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, packaged units, exhaust fans, and make-up air unitsAssist with rigging, setting, leveling, and securing HVAC equipment using proper lifting methods and toolsInstall sheet metal ductwork, supports, hangers, insulation, and related mechanical componentsInstall refrigerant piping, condensate piping, and associated mechanical connections as requiredRead and interpret mechanical drawings, HVAC blueprints, and installation plansPerform system change-outs, retrofits, and mechanical upgrades in active commercial facilitiesCoordinate daily work activities with foremen, superintendents, and other trades on siteEnsure installations meet manufacturer specifications, mechanical codes, and company quality standardsIdentify material needs and communicate shortages, conflicts, or delays to project leadershipMaintain productivity while meeting quality and schedule expectationsMaintain clean, organized, and safe job sitesProperly use, care for, and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehiclesParticipate in jobsite safety meetings and follow all safety policies and proceduresPerform all work in a safe and responsible manner to protect employees, subcontractors, and the publicSkills and Qualifications:Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and installation practicesExperience installing large tonnage HVAC equipment and duct systemsAbility to read and follow mechanical drawings and HVAC blueprintsFamiliarity with sheet metal, piping, and mechanical installation methodsStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team in active construction environmentsStrong communication and time-management skillsProblem-solving mindset in fast-paced commercial job sitesPreferred Qualifications:High school diploma or GED2+ years of commercial HVAC installation experienceEPA 608 CertificationHVAC technical school or trade school courseworkExperience working on retail, grocery, industrial, or institutional HVAC projectsValid driver's licenseBenefits:Competitive payMedical, dental, and vision insurance optionsRetirement savings plan with company contributions (401(k) or equivalent)Paid vacation, holidays, and sick timeYear-round, steady workOpportunities for career growth advancementSupportive, team-based work environment
