Material Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work in a safe manner at all times including compliance to all PPE requirements
Regularly checks with each assembly and fabrication workstation to ensure operators have necessary materials. Works to fill material needs when reported. Escalates shortages to Production Control, Purchasing, or fabrication if are short supply
Coordinates with Purchasing in instance of material shortages
Updates all shop project status boards, as necessary
Able to operate a forklift
Ability to properly execute transactions in IFS
Orders raw materials for the fabrication dept.
Resolves conflicts with BOM errors by validating the reported with engineering, ensuring appropriate transactions are completed, and delivering parts
Makes special material runs for emergent situations – pick-ups and small deliveries
Follows up on closure to material and engineering related NCR’s
Initiates ECR’s to correct BOM and related errors
Assists in the management of Kanban and VMI systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots) as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Indoor office environment, outdoor environment, and shop floor activity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma
Ability to drive a forklift
Ability to use computer – including Excel
5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong communication skills
Understanding of Lean manufacturing tools not required but a plus
