Job Title: Product EngineerLocation: Dearborn, MIJob Type: W2 ContractExpected hours per week: 40 hours per weekSchedule: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM EST (In-person Mon-Thu and remote on Fridays)Pay: $40.31 per hourSummaryAs a Theme Development Engineer, you will partner closely with Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to translate design vision into production-feasible reality. This role bridges styling and engineering—developing early concepts, integrating functional and manufacturing inputs into A-surface, and supporting both digital and physical model development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead studio property setup and integrity, including:Content and data pedigreeRide heightManikin dropOverall package suitabilityLead completion of studies within the Design Feasibility FC Process (FC0 through K6), including:Design Development ChecklistsHardpoints PlanIntegration of aligned plans into surface dataLead the integration of A-surface with thematic, VA, functional, and attribute inputs while preserving emotive character and design intentGuide initial theme setup and development, often ahead of functional, supplier, or attribute inputsDevelop and maintain Surface Scaffold files to support both physical and digital model development and theme overlaysProvide concept alternatives and provocations to help reconcile thematic intent with functional and program assumptionsManage data flow within, into, and out of the design studioBuild and support physical models that validate concepts and feasibilityRequired SkillsCATIA – Independently create complex 3D proposals; near-expert proficiencyCAD – Independently create complex 3D proposals; near-expert proficiencyCAD Design – Advanced capability in complex 3D design developmentPreferred SkillsDesign Release Engineering – Basic understanding and hands-on experienceStructural Engineering – Basic understanding and exposureRequired Experience & QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or automotive-equivalent degree3+ years of experience in complete vehicle layout/packageIncluding Body and TrimStrong understanding of production processesFamiliarity with design feasibility tools and studio feasibility progressionWorking knowledge of legislative requirements impacting design feasibilityExperience leading reviews and presenting to decision-making forumPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree#INDOEM
