CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR - (PART-TIME)OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGEOlive-Harvey College is currently seeking part-time Continuing Education Instructors. If you have passion for teaching and learning, and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving. Continuing Education courses are short, focused courses offered for personal growth and professional development. We are currently seeking instructors to teach non-credit, adult enrichment courses on various topics including Art, Music, Travel, Computers, Real Estate, Finance and Investment, Fitness and more. Most courses for adults meet once a week for three hours on a weekday evening or Saturday morning for 1 - 8 weeks. No academic credit is awarded.General ResponsibilitiesInstruct/facilitate courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learningCreate an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategiesContribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communitiesPerforms other related duties as required.QualificationsDegree/certifications may be required dependent on course offeringTeaching experience not required; industry experience valuedKnowledge of Brightspace, preferred but not requiredExcellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students requiredExperience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community collegeMust be able to spend majority the of time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions if necessary.For Consideration, Please Submit The FollowingA cover letter indicating the discipline of interestResume or curriculum vitaeTranscript (Official transcripts must be provided if hired for a course that requires a degree)Courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as, face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats.
